The complete data set for the insurance industry

The importance of structured data

We supply the insurance industry with vehicle data based on license plate or the make-model-type search tree. Our added value lies in organising the raw RDW data – after all, you want to know exactly which model you’re dealing with. For example: with our knowledge a BMW X-REIHE becomes a BMW X5 (refer to 67-XX-DB). Another example is the BMW 1 Series, which is classified by the RDW as a station wagon, while it is in fact a hatchback. The importer informs us about it being a High-Executive version, which is how we find out the exact purchase price.

The process:

Every day at 7.00 am we receive the RDW license plate data through our partner VWE. Around 09.00, all importer data and price list information is linked to the new license plates. Our servers are updated at 9.30 am, at which point the first tender proposals can be made. These days, 90% of all Dutch car insurance policies are taken out based on Autotelex data, linked to RDW license plate data. Before the license plate is registered to a name it’s already in our systems with all links in place.

Data service provider ABZ supplies this license plate data to insurance companies and representatives. These Audascan messages differ among insurance companies, depending on the need for information.

ROLLS also uses this license plate data for premium calculations, preventing differences in insurance premiums between ROLLS and the insurance company’s extranet. Over 3000 insurance agents and financial comparison websites, such as Geld.nl, Pricewise.nlIndepender and Vergelijkdirect.com, use data provided by Autotelex.
