The importance of structure
Within the insurance industry, we provide vehicle data via license plate or via the make/model/type search tree. Our added value lies in bringing structure to raw RDW data. After all, you want to know exactly which model it is. For example, we standardise a BMW X-REIHE to a BMW X5 (see 67-XX-DB as an illustration). Another example is the BMW X1 Series, which is classified by RDW as a station wagon, while in reality it is an SUV. From the importer, we also receive information that it concerns a High Executive version, allowing us to determine the exact new price.
Use Autotelex data to improve the quality of RDW vehicle information.
The RDW registers vehicle information by license plate both for official imports via importers and individual imports of (used) vehicles.
In both situations, inaccuracies can occur. These errors can appear in any RDW data field, some of which are important for insurance premium calculations. Such errors can lead to under- or overinsurance, as well as incorrect risk classification.
Below are several RDW data fields with examples illustrating these discrepancies:
Catalogue price (recorded from 1 July 2007 or after first registration in the Netherlands from 1 January 2010)
| License plate | Cat.price RDW | Eroor | Note Autotelex |
| 47XBL3 | € 64.525 | cat. price too low | Audi A8; available from € 88.180,-, |
| 75TGT7 | € 25.222 | cat. price too low | Suzuki Kizashi; available from € 34.544,- |
| 9SGH41 | € 66.800 | cat. price too low | Maserati Ghibli; available from € 109.476 |
| 13TPK8 | € 24.286 | cat. price too low | Suzuki Grand Vitara; available from € 45.281,- |
| 4KXD30 | € 128.159 | cat. price too high | Volkswagen Tiguan; available from € 46.890,- |
| 1KFP57 | € 88.136 | cat. price too high | Nissan Pixo; available from € 8.799,- |
| 57KKN4 | € 17.727 | cat. price too high | Ford S-Max; available from € 27.844,- |
These are only examples; often entire license plate series from the same importer contain incorrect data over a certain period.

Every day at 07:00, we receive RDW license plate data via our partner VWE. At 09:00, our integration systems have completed linking importer and price list information to the new license plates. By 09:30, the servers are updated and insurance quotes can be issued. Meanwhile, 90% of all car insurance policies are now concluded based on Autotelex data, linked to RDW license plate information. Even before registration is completed, the license plate is already known and matched in our system.
Data service provider Solera Netherlands supplies this license plate data to insurers and underwriting agents. These Audascan messages vary per insurer, depending on their information requirements.
Also ROLLS uses this license plate data for premium calculations, ensuring that no differences arise between ROLLS and insurers’ extranets.
In addition to more than 2,500 intermediaries, comparison platforms and other market parties such as Independer, Pricewise, Verzekerdvia, Geld.nl, Vergelijkdirect.com, Consumentenbond, Overstappen, Nedasco, and VCN use our data via ROLLS web services when calculating and comparing insurance premiums.

ADAS systems (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are playing an increasingly important role within the insurance industry. These advanced driver assistance systems—such as emergency braking assistance, lane keeping support, and adaptive cruise control—significantly reduce the likelihood of accidents. Thanks to Autotelex data, it is possible to deliver this information for accurate calculations.
